Tool

Tech Hiring Radar

A scraper that reads Hacker News' monthly "Who is hiring?" threads and turns hundreds of unstructured job postings into a live snapshot of what the market is actually asking for.

What it does

Every month, Hacker News runs an "Ask HN: Who is hiring?" thread where companies post openings as top-level comments. This tool fetches that thread, parses every posting, and aggregates it into hiring-market signals — refreshed every 6 hours.

  • Pulls the latest 'Who is hiring?' thread straight from Hacker News (Algolia HN Search API)
  • Parses every top-level posting out of the comment tree — no manual copy-paste
  • Ranks the most-mentioned technologies by share of postings, not raw keyword count
  • Flags remote-friendly and visa-sponsorship postings
  • Tracks posting volume across the last 6 months to show hiring momentum
